MegaFon says launches VoLTE technology in Estonia
MOSCOW, Feb 10 (PRIME) -- Russian mobile operator MegaFon has launched Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in Estonia, the company said on Thursday in a statement.
“MegaFon subscribers will be the first to make calls from abroad via technology VoLTE. The service is already available in Estonia and the launch is planned in the U.S., Canada, South Korea, Japan, and China by the end of the year,” the operator said.
VoLTE establishes connection with a subscriber of any operator within a few seconds and ensures high sound quality. Subscribers can communicate and surf the mobile Internet simultaneously.
Access to the service is activated in smartphone settings. The technology does not impact the price of services and does not consume Internet traffic – LTE calls are charged as voice connections under the international roaming terms.
